I got my balance trainer with DVD in the mail today and opened it up did the workout right away! While the workout promises not to pound your joints, it does include some high impact moves including jumping on the balance trainer(this was very scary at first). The workout sure got my heart going and built up a good sweat (I am at an inter to advanced level with most workout tapes) so that is a good thing. The trouble I had with this video was that the Balance Trainer gave me horrible pain in the bottom of my feet. I was also terrified the whole time that I was going to seriously hurt my ankles. I do not recommend this to any one who has problems with their feet or ankles. For those that do not have those problems: The instructor was friendly and cued well. This workout will get your heart rate up and keep it up and the Balance Trainer is amazing for ab work, I have never had to try so hard to keep up with an ab segment in my life. The Balance Trainer also allows you to tone your abs in unique way and hit all angles because of its circular shape…you will feel a great burn. Overall this is a good total body workout.

After my ACL knee surgery several years ago, I completed physical therapy using balance training. Most of my leg work was performed on the balance ball and the BOSU, which consists of half a balance ball mounted into a stable base. I really enjoyed this training, and continued these workouts after the successful completion of my therapy.
I moved to a house with a low basement ceiling a few years ago, and could not continue my balance training on the BOSU because of the low ceiling which prevented me from performing jumps and leaps. Just last week, I found The Firm’s Balance Training Kit on [...] by luck, and ordered it right away.
The trainer on this DVD provides a face-paced workout that is confusing at first, but I don’t mind this because I can improve and not become easily bored with the routines. The exercise segments have several stopping points, so I can chose a workout duration to fit my available time. What amazes me about this workout is that the trainer performs so many core exercises I had not imagined could be adapted to this compact balance platform. By the time I have completed this DVD workout, I have exerted muscles throughout my entire body!
I believe that this small balance platform is ideal for beginners because it is not as high as a BOSU, so there is less fear of falling. This is a very portable training tool. I can slip it into my luggage, along with the DVD, to keep fit during my travels.
Don’t let this meek little rubber balloon intimidate you! The balance trainer will help to tone your legs and abs. Enjoy!

I know from the gyms that I’ve attended that the balance trainer is the personal trainer’s secret. So, I was totally looking forward to getting this in the mail. Once, I got it & tried it…I’ve been hooked! Tina Smalley is a fabulous instructor. She is great at cueing & encouraging you to go for it during the workout. I’ll admit that 10 minutes into the workout that I usually already feel like I’m starting to break a sweat! The balance trainer has been an awesome addition to my workouts & I look forward to doing it on my cardio days. The drills & challenges make this workout fun. The cool down is really great and sometime I’ll skip the cool down section on my other Firm videos & pop this one in. Don’t have any doubts about this product, because it works.
BRIDE BOOT CAMP INFO:
In addition to this balance trainer I have the fanny lifter (which is a total must). I have been rotating between the balance trainer & the fanny lifter series and I can’t believe that I’ve lost 10 pounds, got a feminine six-pack, tightened my arms, and lost weight around my legs. I had no idea that the Firm would tone me as much as it has. There isn’t another video series that has ever got me into this sort of shape, which is important because I’m getting married in two months in Maui! Even the high-end gym memberships that I had didn’t get me these sort of results. Anyhow, the Firm’s statement that 10 workouts will show a difference is completely true. So, plan accordingly for your wedding & put the time in! If I can do it…so can you!!!!!!!!

I got mine in the mail on Friday, and couldn’t wait to use it. I started it on Monday and WOW. It is a pretty good work out. My abs were throbbing after I finished, but when I woke up my butt hurt worse than my abs. It really hits your legs, and abs for quite the work out. It is hard to get used to at first and the moves are pretty quick, but the more you do it the easier the moves become! I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have weak ankles or problems with their feet.

I own most of the Firm videos, and this one presents it’s own unique set of challenges.
Getting started, I found that blowing up the balance trainer with the enclosed pump was difficult. Using a bike pump and the included metal needle insert proved to be the easiest way to inflate it.
The workout itself was really tricky. It will probably take me many tries to even get close to mastering it. My balance and core muscles were seriously challenged. My heart rate did get raised, but the biggest challenge was in dealing with the balance trainer. There’s a jump/straddle move that I was even too chicken to try. I worry about twisting my ankle on this thing! I’ll probably deflate the trainer just a bit before trying it again.
My only other complaint is that Tina’s cueing isn’t great, and she doesn’t pay much attention to matching her steps to the beat of the music. This makes the workout harder, as I spent less time keeping an eye on the screen in order to watch my feet with the trainer.
Despite my struggles with this workout, it was nice to do something different and to be challenged in a new way. If you’re tired of the same old step box routine and tons of crunches on the floor, this is a great way to mix it up. And despite it’s challenging moves, Tina does give you options for easier steps and positions.
The balance trainer is about 12-13 inches in diameter (depending on how much you inflate it), so it doesn’t take up much space. The main workout is 46 minutes, and the express version is 25 minutes.
This isn’t my favorite Firm workout, and if I could give it 2 1/2 stars, I would. However, it’s nice to have something different to do now and again.
